A budget price and excellent location at the YMCA Hong Kong
Hong Kong the city of lights is a fantastic city to visit, it offers amazing shopping, endless entertainment activities and some excellent trips to beautifully secluded outlying islands. Though for those who really want to experience what this country is really about, then finding a hotel besides the harbor is a must. Usually hotels by the harbor front are expensive, but there is one that offers a wide variety of comfortable, clean rooms at a reasonable price and best of all it stands right on the tip of the Kowloon side peninsular.
The YMCA Hong Kong is ideally located in the bustling Tsim Sha Tsui district, opposite the cultural center and right besides the Sheraton Hotel. From here you are within walking distance to Kowloon Park, Harbor view and Park lane shopping malls, the bar district, the Macau ferry terminal and plenty of other excellent attractions. YMCA is known worldwide as being a youth help organization, but the Hong Kong branch has chosen to offer visitors a range of low cost accommodation options that suit families and younger holiday makers on a limited budget.
You can choose from the single, standard, partial harbor view, harbor view, family suite, harbor view suite and dormitory rooms. All are well serviced and have a simple, cozy interior decor with en-suite bathrooms and a range of amenities to help keep guests feel comfortable. All rooms (excluding the dormitory) come with a colour TV, desk with data ports, IDD phone, tea/coffee making facilities, electronic safe, hair dryer and a fully stocked fridge. When comparing the cost of a single night in the YMCA Hotel to other harbor front accommodations this is the lowest priced option, making it a popular choice for travelers.
Because the YMCA is also a youth sports facility, guests are welcome to use a variety of the indoor recreation facilities. There is a large temperature controlled swimming pool with adjoining Jacuzzi and sauna, squash courts, fully equipped gym, rock climbing wall and dance studio area. For those who prefer to hit the streets and do some sight seeing, the hotel also offers a special travel help desk that can give you advice on where to go or even make up a whole itinerary for your day.
Food and drinks wise there are plenty of nearby restaurants, fast food places and local restaurants to keep you full; but the YMCA also houses a number of dining choices for those who prefer to eat in. Open from early morning till late evening the Salisbury Dining Room serves up a delicious range of delights from all over the world either in a buffet style or from a mixed menu. Alternatively there is the trendy Mall Caf which cooks up a mixture of American, continental and oriental foods in a cozy atmosphere. Overall the YMCA hotel Hong Kong is an excellent choice for anyone planning to visit this energetic city, but are on a limited budget. Though it is not a 5 star accommodation, it provides comfortable clean rooms and for a little more a luxurious suite with amazing views can be had. You will never find a cheaper hotel located right next t the harbor and in such a central location.
