Historic hotel located close to some of Canberras best historic sites
Located just north of Lake Burley Griffin and the Parliamentary sector, the Olims Hotel Canberra is conveniently positioned within the national capital to visit the many attractive sites as well as enjoy the vibrant city life.
With quick connections to Canberra International Airport and all major road and rail routes, the hotel is ideal for domestic and international visitors.
The 3.5-star property has been recognised by the National Trust due to its heritage. Originally built in 1927 and styled on an old English country house, the hotel offers an old world charm complimented by modern amenities. The gardens around the house are again styled on traditional English gardens, and make for an ideal setting to sit back and relax.
Each of the 127 guestrooms is equipped with an en-suite bathroom. Rooms are designated into three types: heritage; superior; and a deluxe loft room which features a kitchenette. Heritage rooms have been recognised for their historical significance, whilst superior rooms provide a slightly higher standard of lodgings.
All rooms include large plasma TV, telephone, iron and board, hairdryer, mini-bar fridge, alarm clock, and tea and coffee making facilities. Superior rooms feature a host of additional extras including work desk, shower and bathtub, and wireless internet access.
The hotel also accommodates the business traveller, providing a range of meeting and function rooms, as well as plenty of break-out areas. Lunch can be taken in the private courtyard whilst refreshments are provided throughout the day. Its not only conferences that can be held here either. With the capacity to cater for up to 180 persons, this is also a suitable venue for a wedding or other celebratory event.
Guests at the Olims Hotel Canberra can enjoy dining at the Ainslie Bar and Bistro. The bistros menu offers a range of quick snacks or hearty dinner meals, and includes Australian favourites like burgers and Rib-Eye steak. A childrens menu is ideal for younger visitors.
The Ainslie Bar offers a friendly environment both indoors and out. As well as featuring live entertainment and sporting events on the big screen, the bar also offers a TAB to place a wager. The scenic beer garden makes this one of the citys more popular watering holes.
As well as offering visitors access to city centre delights such as shopping, restaurants, cafs, bars, nightclubs, and sporting venues, Olims is also located within a short distance of some of the capitals most famous attraction. The Australian War Memorial, a landmark that it is said every Australian should visit once in their life, is just down the street, whilst the Remembrance Nature Park and many of the other grounds which make up Canberra Nature Park are nearby.
Other historic features such as the Parliament House, which was built the same year as the hotel, the Royal Australian Mint, and the National Museum of Australia can be found within a short distance of the property.
Visitors to the Olims Hotel Canberra may also enjoy a trip to Lake Burley Griffin which provides a great many activities, including superb jogging and cycling tracks around the waters.
