Conveniently positioned accommodation along Maines eastern shores
The Grand Beach Inn Old Orchard Beach offers motel style accommodation with a number of hotel features, and is ideally positioned for those looking to enjoy scenic Eastern Maine.
The 2-star property offers 100 guestrooms, each of which includes a private en-suite bathroom. Bedrooms feature cable/satellite TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, alarm clock, and telephone. Suites also feature a full kitchen area, including a refrigerator and microwave. All rooms include air-conditioning and a balcony.
Other facilities on offer include a heated outdoor swimming pool and a number of open-air grills within a picnic area. Guests are welcome to cook their own meals here, and can even ask for advice on how to cook the perfect New England lobster. Alternatively, the Old Beach caf also serves a range of dishes for breakfast and lunch.
Both parking and internet access is provided free of charge.
Whilst it may not include all of the thrills of other hotels, the Grand Beach Inn does offer excellent access to the town of Old Orchard Beach in York County, ME. The popular summer destination features an 11 miles stretch of beach that makes for an ideal vacation spot.
Visitors can enjoy a number of souvenir shops and boutiques scattered along the seafront as well as a traditional style pier. During its history the pier featured a casino which played host to the likes of Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra. However, the Maine winter weather destroyed much of the original structures. Today, the pier, which was last renovated in 1980, houses a number of souvenir and gift shops as well as fair foods and a nightclub at its end.
Guests at the Grand Beach Inn Old Orchard Beach will also find that they are within a short distance of Palace Playland, and old-timers amusement park. Built in 1902 the park is one of the last Maine attractions to have such an old-time feel to it. A new Ferris wheel offers a more up-to-date dynamic, not to mention a fine view of the Atlantic Ocean.
Within the region, visitors will find a host of golf courses, including Dunnegrass and Prouts Neck. Both offer a scenic backdrop to play against. Close to Prouts Neck golf course is the Prouts Neck Bird Sanctuary and the Scarborough Beach State Park, both of which offer particularly enjoyable and scenic landscapes and wildlife.
With its position just off Highway 9, the hotel also allows for easy access to U.S. Route 1 and Interstate 95 (the Maine Turnpike). This means that visitors can visit the likes of Portland to the north and Boston to the south. Each of these offers city attractions, yet retains a small city feel. Even the larger Boston still feels like a small, tight-knit community.
Between the pair, guests at the Grand Beach Inn Old Orchard Beach will find vintage New England small towns, many of which feature cafs and restaurants serving fine Atlantic coast seafood, and offer an atmosphere of unhurried calm. Along the way visitors are sure to view some splendid vistas.
