Godalming Hotel

Stylish B&B hotel located in Surreys commuter belt

Godalming Hotel

The Godalming Hotel is a charming property located between Godalming town and Farncombe village in the Surrey commuter belt. Guildford is just a short drive away whilst London and the south coast are readily accessible via road or rail.

The bed and breakfast hotel features 17 guestrooms made up of singles, doubles, twin, and family rooms. Each is stylishly decorated and includes an impressive mahogany sleigh bed. Wooden, parquet floors add a traditional feel whilst bright white en-suite bathrooms have a contemporary feel. Bathrooms are equipped with power shower, WC, and wash basin.

Amenities included within bedrooms include large flat-screen television with built in DVD player and Freeview channels, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, and free internet access. Parking at the Godalming is also offered free.

Breakfast, which is included in the price of a stay, is served in a bright and airy dining room with glass tables and stylishly exposed wooden beams. Guests can indulge in a full English breakfast or a continental equivalent.

The property is an ideal location for those attending weddings and other events at many of the local venues, including Gate Street Barn, Losely House, and the Manor House Conference Centre.

Guests at the Godalming Hotel will find the twin settlements of Farncombe and Godalming quaint and charming. As part of Londons vast commuter belt, the pair tends to be quiet and relaxed, quite the contrast to the nearby metropolis. Activities and attractions are also very much low-key.

The historic Godalming town walk highlights many of the settlements interesting and unique sites, including the Pepperpot (formerly the town hall), Minton Cottage (which was once a knitting factory), and the Hatch Mill. This tour is probably the best way to see the town, and only takes about 90 minutes.

Farncombe is the older of the two, with Bronze Age artefacts and Roman relics having been found in the region. The oldest building in the village is the Almshouses, which were constructed in 1622.

The River Wey, which runs close to the hotel, is a popular waterway which offers visitors the opportunity to take a canal boat ride to Guilford and beyond. The Wey and Godalming Navigations, as this part of the river is known, is historically significant as it was one of the first rivers to be made navigable in England.

Those guests that prefer the links to the waterways will find a number of golf courses just outside of town. Included amongst these are Broadwater, Bramley, Hurtmore, Milford, and Puttenham golf clubs.

Visitors to the area looking for a day trip are spoiled for choice. The railway stations at Farncombe and Godalming serve the London to Portsmouth line. Subsequently, visitors can enjoy a day in the capital or at the harbour town. Coastal towns such as Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne, Bognor Regis, and Southampton are also accessible by road in approximately an hour.

Regardless of the purpose for your stay, or the destination whilst based in the Surrey town, the Godalming Hotel provides quiet and calm accommodation thats unfussy and enjoyable.
