Seafront hotel in the East Sussex town of Eastbourne
Located on the Royal Parade, the East Beach Hotel Eastbourne is just a few steps from the towns glorious beaches and seafront. Many of its guestrooms subsequently look out over the shoreline and the English Channel.
Whilst Eastbourne is a popular seaside destination, it lacks some of the abruptness and eventfulness of other coastal resorts. As such, this 3-star hotel has a charm and tranquillity about it rather than a hectic essence and party-going vibe.
Consisting of 32 guestrooms, the hotel offers en-suite bathroom facilities for each room as well as a number of additional facilities. A television and DVD player is included as standard and guests are also encouraged to borrow discs from the hotels film library for no extra cost. Wireless internet access is available throughout the building.
An on-going renovation project is underway. Currently rooms are divided into those that have been renovated and those that await renovation. Those in the former bracket now include luxury suites that include four-poster beds, exquisite fabrics, a minibar, and complimentary designer toiletries. Some rooms even include a two-person Jacuzzi. Rooms that are awaiting a makeover are offered as a more affordable, no frills option.
Breakfast is served daily in the hotels dining room, offering guests a choice of full English or continental dishes.
As the town is popular with city folk looking for a weekend away from the smog, the East Beach Hotel Eastbourne is an ideal destination thanks to its seafront position. Not only is the building just a few short steps from the pebbled beach, its also only a stones throw away from Eastbourne Pier. Like many traditional UK piers, this one is illuminated at night time and features a number of attractions along its boardwalk. One of the most unique items to be found is the Camera Obscura, a forerunner to todays modern camera. This is believed to be one of the only working examples of this piece of equipment.
Elsewhere along the coast is Beachy Head, the largest chalk cliff face in the UK. At 162 metres above sea level, the top of the cliff allows excellent views of the south-east coast and stunning views across the seas.
The town of Eastbourne features a number of locations and events which visitors can make the most of. A number of theatres can be found scattered around the streets of the town. Amongst these is the Royal Hippodrome Theatre, a favourite of the Prince of Wales. Visitors can enjoy a number of performances, including theatre, pantomime, cabaret, comedy, and many others.
During July the town host the Eastbourne International Tennis tournament, the tradition curtain-raiser to the Wimbledon championships. Here a number of stars of the tennis scene can be seen perfecting their skills ahead of the most famous tennis event in the world.
