The Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village is set within a delightful temperate rainforest in Cradle Valley near the Cradle Mountain/Lake St. Clair National Park in a portion of Tasmania. The goal of the Village is to give you as much wilderness as possible but to place you in comfortable surroundings each day. The village consists of completely private and self contained cottages and chalets that put you within the rainforest itself. It caters to couples up to large groups or large families.
Wildlife is rampant in the area. You might look outside of your balcony and see a wombat, a wallaby, a possum or a currawong. These are all parts of the wilderness that live just outside your door. The scenery is rugged and beautiful. You have breathtaking views no matter where you go. The area was listed as a World Heritage site in 1982 and includes Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake at its foot.
There are five different floor plans to the cottages at the Village. Some are small enough for couples and others serve large families. Each has a kitchenette, an area for dining, a lounge area and bathroom plus a television set with LCD TV, free in-house movies and direct dial phones. The cottages are warm with electric heating and heating blankets for a comfortable nights sleep. There are studio cottages, chalets and villas. The premium spa cottages all have lovely balconies from which you can view the wildlife and rainforest and gas fire for comfort.
There is a guest lounge in the main building. You can enjoy coffee and tea in this area, use the internet kiosk, visit the honesty bar and enjoy an evening cocktail. There are board games to play or you can just read in the comfort of the ambiance. The reception desk is wealth of information on Cradle Valley and the things you can do there. There are outdoor sites for barbecuing, a playground for kids, walking tracks for a short stroll and guest laundry facilities.
At the Cradle Valley Wilderness Village, each cottage has the ability to self cater with a complete kitchenette. There are private verandahs, ensuite bathrooms, electric and gas heating and electric blankets. Your stay will be comfortable and peaceful with all the wilderness you could ask for.
The Cradle Mountain area has many things to do in it. You can go on amazing river cruises, mine tours, cave tours, visit lavender farms, go through mazes, see gardens, visit wineries and go cheese tasting, and visit producers of honey and raspberries in the area. There is a Wildlife Park where Tasmanian Devils are known to hang out. You can fly overhead in a helicopter and see amazing waterfalls, numerous lakes and the peak of Cradle Mountain.
By staying at Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village, there are plenty of things to do. Go canoeing in Dove Lake, take a mountain bike tour, see wildlife you can only see at night, go fishing or see a Tasmanian Devil enclosure. You can book these tours through the front desk in the main lodge.
