Cradle Mountain LodgeAn Iconic Wilderness Experience
Cradle Mountain Lodge is located at the fantastic World Heritage Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, located within the Tasmanian Region. It just takes a beautiful two hour drive from Launceston or a 1.5 hour scenic drive from Devonport to get to the lodge. There you will experience warm welcomes, a delightful wilderness setting, scenery that cant be beat and wilderness all around you. The lodge is discretely set within the wilderness so you hardly know it is there.
There are four different types of accommodations at the lodge, from the standard and contemporary Pencil Pine Cabins to the fantastic and luxurious King Billy Suites with even more breathtaking views of the area. The lodge is a perfect escape to see the wilderness, to indulge in good food and to escape the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan areas.
The Pencil Pine Cabins are standard at the lodge. You get lodge, bush land or lake views and the furnishings are innately comfortable. There is a fireplace gas heater and a queen sized bed, a mini bar, coffee table and arm chairs, a day bed, an alarm clock, coffee making facilities, hair dryer, refrigerator, bathroom with shower, daily housekeepers, CD player and ironing facilities. Some pencil pine cabins are specifically for families and offer two rooms, with a second room having single beds.
There are activities galore at the Cradle Mountain Lodge. They will take you out fly fishing when it is in season and you can go on guided walks of the area. Mountain biking is a great adventure you can do and there are wine and cheese tasting sessions featuring Tasmanian wines and cheeses. You can go on a night viewing tour of nocturnal wildlife or spend time in the Waldheim Alpine Spa. There is tobogganing in the winter time if there is snow and you can go canoeing on Dove Lake. There is horseback riding, quad biking and charter helicopter flights to see the surrounding area. You can go Cradle canyoning in the summer months only.
There is a shuttle bus that can take you to the visitors center of the national park from Dove Lake. Some activities can be done only during certain seasons but every season is beautiful with things to explore in the area.
Some places to visit are the Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park. It is only a hundred meters from the lodge and is a premier wilderness experiencea Heritage listed place in Tasmania. There is hiking and biking for you to experience and lots of wildlife to explore. Dove Lake is only about 8 kilometers from the lodge and is a place for canoeing and sightseeing. It is a lovely, pristine lake. Devils Cradle is about a kilometer from the lodge and is a wildlife sanctuary where the researchers there are dedicated to preserving the existing wildlife within the Cradle Mountain Area.
The Highland Restaurant is a premiere dining experience within Tasmania. It includes classical Tasmanian foods, a great buffet breakfast, a buffet dinner with reservations necessary. You can also order a picnic hamper and enjoy the outdoors with a fantastic meal. The Tavern Bar and Bistro is open seven days per week and usually has a fire roaring. It has pool tables and a television and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinnerbistro style.
